seven countries + eighty-five days

this thursday, at eleven-fifteen in the morning, i will be chasing tears with laughter brought on by my family's desperate attempts to send me off on a happy note. i will somehow suck it up and remind myself how happy i will be once i am hiking in edinburgh, scotland's capital.

through the rhodes/sewanee joint study abroad program, european studies: classical option, i will venture through europe studying "ancient greece and rome: the foundations of western civilization." i just spent three weeks in sewanee hiking + swimming + taking two classes (surveys covering "pericles to caesar": one studying greek and roman philosophers and the other historical and literary figures). i am currently home on a short holiday and will start my trip in edinburgh and york as a means to adjust to europe before starting class. i will study at lincoln college in oxford for six weeks; from there, i will spend five weeks touring greece, turkey, and italy.

thursday, october-twenty-fifth at ten o'clock, i will be back in kansas city, and hopefully full of new understanding, appreciation, and experience, as well as a longing for more adventure.

here are a few things i will be missing while abroad...
