Everyone Loves the Carnival

Who would have thought that I would spend four pounds (that's six dollars and thirty-five cents) to do something I can do every July in Columbus, Kansas at the Cherokee County Fair? Welp, I did. The St. Giles Fair started in 1625 as a parish festival and became a toy fair in the 1700s, then a children's fair in the nineteenth century. Today, it basically looks like the carnival part of the CCFair. The ES kids were pretty stoked that this "unusual" event was happening right by campus. Who would have thought the historic, prestigious Oxford streets would be filled with fried food stands, obnoxious teenagers, and strobe-lit rides?

Similarities:
The similarities were found mostly in the people. Let me tell you, every single city in the world has its share of tackiness, and, no matter how wonderful the carnival might be, that tackiness always comes out at the carnival.
-"Carnies"
-Games that take all your money
-Hyper kids

Differences:
The differences were found mostly in what the food stands sold. Let me tell you, America is not the only country to indulge in fried foods and oversized beverages. Oh, and all the rides had pictures of obscure, American celebrities on them.
-"American" waffles
-Tea and Coffee
-Crepes

a surprisingly great view of the city

SO much fun
