A Good American Stereotype

It’s always funny (or sometimes upsetting, I suppose) when a stereotype proves true in an individual instance. While sitting on the stone remains of what was once a communal, Roman latrine (they really did not mind taking care of business right next to each other; they even used the time to “catch up”), I was approached by a British woman and her young daughter. She asked in a thick accent if we were from the states and after I responded, “Yes, and I take it you aren’t!” she looked to her daughter and said, “Look! At her beautiful, American teeth!”
